Kobi's gotten some new sneakers today (Weebok's to be exact) and in an effort to get him walking not only in the house but also outside, I figured why not test out those new shoes.
Here he is refusing to walk...
and again "pretending" he has rubber legs.
All I can say is it became "stroller time" real quick!
LITTLE STINKER!!!
*So I am up for any suggestions here. How do you make a kid that rapidly tears through the house like a tornado act the same way outside? Not that I want to be running around the back yard at 6 minute a mile speed but whats the deal here!? I think he's afraid of grass, concrete, driveway... well you get the point. Anyway he's such a cutie... a 30 pound cutie now! Note to self: Call Chiropractor!!!!

Here we are at almost 3 and Annslee still hates grass!! Good luck! He is cute though : )
I think he doesn't want to get those new shoes dirty. I love to keep my tennys clean for as long as I can...if I could find someone to carry me I would have rubber legs too. I think it may just be a case of practice, practice, practice. He is still so cute though, it is hard to be frustrated with him huh??
Such a cutie!
It took our daughter a little while to figure out grass too. We arrived home to snow in November 05, and by the time Spring rolled around and the snow melted and grass dry enough she was a prime age for freaking out about 'new' surfaces. It wont take long, she'll be rolling in the stuff before too long!

Let us know what you find out, we might need help later!
He is so cute!!! Has he ever taken a bad photograph!!! I certainly have never seen one!
Further exposure will break his fear. Just keep trying. maybe a "walker" toy outside like when he was first learning inside? All three of my kids had a stage ofr a VERY short while where they didn't like the feel of grass under their feet. And- seriously!- he is way too heavy to be carrying around! Wow. Kobi, whatchya been eating?!
Since I know from our daughter that you can't make a child do anything, I would suggest finding a way that he wants to walk outside. Say put some walking or tall toys outside spread around the yard, then you sit on a blanket in the middle. He can play with the toys if he goes to them, but you stay where you are so he can come back to you as much as possible. Our daughter loved to expore, but she did constantly need to check in where we were, and it was always more constant when we were outside.
Of course I have no Momma experience and only babydog training experience... but maybe start with having to walk outside towards things he really wants like to the swings, a favorite toy, or a favorite treat.
William didn't really like walking outside at first, either, and he HATED the grass. What got to William was exploring nature--trees, leaves, bushes, flowers. Oh yeah...and a wading pool in the back yard. He loved that. Now, he loves to be outside chasing after bugs and picking up rocks and leaves.
Good luck.

Mommy to William (28 months old and holding a steady 27 lbs. for the last year. Can you send some of Kobi's big boy juice this way?)
Our 20 month old daughter LOVES squeaky shoes (ours are by Wee Squeak)- they have squeakers in the heels so that everytime they take a step they squeak. (I know it sounds a little over-the-top, but they're super cute AND you can remove the squeakers if you want to.) Maybe you could try a pair for outside use only- if he really likes them they could be good motivators, or maybe they'd just scare him?? Anyway, we've also found that they help us be aware of where she is when she does want to walk, she'll go out in our backyard and I'll be in the kitchen but I know she's close because I can hear every step she takes. :) Good luck!!
Haha Kobi you are a silly boy:) You are just sooooooooo darn cute. Very smart too. Why would you want to walk if you could get a ride???
